I think back to that fateful day every time I’ve seen Bride of Chucky since. And lets just face it, I wouldn’t have been as coooooollllll bro. I wouldn’t have had the same girlfriends. That album would have planted the seeds of metal in me instead of punk and my entire high school experience, and most likely life afterwards, would be drastically different. But, what if I had chosen the Marilyn Manson album instead? This played a huge part in getting me into punk rock, which was way better than Everclear and would go on to be my bread and butter, ultimately shaping my formative high school years the most.

I ended up enjoying the album much more than their polished hits that were on the radio at the time. I ultimately decided to go with Everclear. I liked Everclear just as much as I enjoyed the song Beautiful People. My sixth-grade self was on the verge of getting into good music, but had not quite figured out a path yet. I had two CDs in my hand to choose from Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson and World of Noise by Everclear. I had enough money for one CD with my extra loot (Sam Goodys were extremely overpriced and I am very happy they don’t exist anymore). We got dropped off at the mall way before Bride of Chucky’s showtime, so we went to the Sam Goody. Me, being the cold-hearted prick that I am, decided to not tell my friends this and keep the extra money all for myself. My mom, being the kind hearted individual that she is, gave me some extra money to pay for the tickets of these two friends. I went with two friends, who I often saw movies with during that time. Or maybe being a rabid Chucky fan makes me biased, who knows.Back in October of 1998, I went to go see this in the now gone Maplewood Mall theater. I've had it these six years and even though I own most of the material by now on other discs, it all sounds so great woven together on this one collection.

Fans of the movie and heavy music alike won't want to skip this one. Too bad though that the score from the movie wasn't release, I love Revell's work. Finally, composer Graeme Revell's piece, titled "We Belong Dead" pieces together a bit of score and soundbites from the movie. Kidneythieves' cover of "Crazy" is definitely an interesting addition, and plays into the movie very well (much like Stabbing Westward's track also). The soundtrack is also beefed up with some metal on the more traditional side Slayer's "Human Disease" is absolutely brutal, while Bruce Dickinson (of Iron Maiden), Judas Priest, and Motorhead give the soundtrack some old school credibility. Powerman 5000's "Son Of X-51" is a different version than the one heard on their 1999 "Tonight The Stars Revolt!" and is worth checking out if you're a fan, while Static-X's infamous track "Bled For Days" serves as that nostalgic first release from the band (also, one of the best songs of their career). This soundtrack also introduced me to two bands I hadn't heard of at the time. Too bad they didn't make more songs like this. It moves very slow, but once it kicks into gear, the payoff is worth it. I'm not really into them as much as I was when this was released, but I still love hearing this song.

Coal Chamber's "Blisters" is probably their best song ever. White Zombie's classic track "Thunderkiss '65" is a great touch, even if the omission of Rob's "Living Dead Girl" (which played over the opening credits) is a bit depressing. The lyrics to the songs sound like they were written for Chucky and Tiffany, even though they were written way before the movie came out. Monster Magnet's "See You In Hell" and Type O Negative's "Love You To Death" are two shining examples. It is very obvious the producers intentionally chose pieces that, not only were stylish, but fit the mood and overall story of the movie. It's one of the few soundtracks I own that brings back vivid memories of the film. I have owned this since 1998, and it still remains a fixture in my stereo. Loving the music presented in the movie and most of the bands on here at the time, I was naturally compelled to purchase this soundtrack. "When "Bride Of Chucky" came out, I was instantly hooked.
